Twelve married women are ready to battle for the 7th edition of Mrs Botswana crown to be held next month in Gaborone.
They were revealed by the chief judge, who is also head of communications and public relations at Mascom, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego.
She said Tsholofelo Taukobong, Carole Ndori, Thabang Ntshole, Lefatshe Kennedy, Katlego Martin, Phatsimo Seema, Gosego Keiponye, Portia Mokgatlong, Amantle Kgosiyame and Goabaone Rankgoane-Pono were selected.
Antonnete Letsholo was selected as the public choice while Joyce Mothibi was selected through the Mrs Botswana’s management pick for a contender who stayed consistent and devoted to working on Gender Based Violence issues. Lebotse-Sebego said some of the elements they were looking at were the degrees of creativity on costumes participants paraded in which they made as well as their confidence.
Ndori was nominated the best dressed participant. Her blue outfit and rod she held in her hand, she said, signified being an African goddess and a warrior who would not back down in her efforts to combat gender based violence related matters.
She said the blue glitters on her gown represented water that she used to transport from the river to her household for use.
Taukobong was nominated as the best creative. She incorporated a butterfly in her purple gown to show her versatility as a mother and a married woman.
In an interview, the director of Mrs Botswana pageant, Kgalalelo Lesetedi said some of the activities that the finalists would embark on include a boot camp on leadership skills and family management among others.
Lesetedi said prior to the coronation, finalists would be expected to present personal projects that addressed GBV issues and child protection. She said the judging process would be in three phases of fashion show, presentation of individual projects and a question and answer session.
Lesetedi maintained that the pageant was aimed at inspiring married women to take care of their families and remain elegant despite motherhood and marriage challenges as well as to revive marriages. ENDS
