University of Botswana has recently bestowed the UB Walk of Fame honour on President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and his deputy Mr Slumber Tsogwane.

A press release from UB explains that the honour is bestowed on distinguished and notable alumni who continue to make strides and impact on society.

Dr Masisi and Mr Tsogwane, who graduated from UB in 1984 and 1985 respectively, are the first recipients of this mark of recognition which the university plans to continue awarding to deserving alumni.

“For UB to have produced the duo is a testament to its credibility and academic quality and the institution continues to produce well-grounded graduates,” says the release.

It says both are actively involved in the UB Foundation and alumni efforts, continuously demonstrating that the university’s graduates ‘go to great lengths to achieve remarkable success in the vocational world as well as the socio-economic fabric of not only Botswana, but beyond’.

The release quotes the institution’s  vice chancellor Professor David Norris as saying the honour was in recognition of their leadership in advancing the country to a knowledge economy.

“Our mission is to improve economic and social conditions of Batswana through impactful research by producing graduates who continue to shape industries and societies. There can be no better example than the leadership of our great nation, paving the way for many notable alumni,” says Professor Norris. Ends
