Woman murdered at GBV centre
Gomolemo Mmotlanyana of Kopong was this week arraigned before Magistrate Goratile Moremi-Ramakoloi of Broadhurst Magistrate’s Court charged for the murder of his wife that he allegedly committed at a gender-based violence support centre, the couple visited for caunselling.
The unemployed Mmotlanyana, 40, who did not take a plea, was charged with murdering Kebabope Mmotlanyana (34) this week in Gaborone.
The prosecutor, Inspector Onkabetse Modukanele of Botswana Police Service told the court that the investigating officer was still running around recording statements from possible witnesses. Furthermore, Inspector Modukanele said they were awaiting the deceased postmodern.
She, therefore, pleaded with Magistrate Moremi-Ramakoloi to keep Mmotlanyana in custody until the next appearance when the investigating officer would take the stand to motivate for the accused’s further remand.
The accused, who told court that he would represent himself, was ordered to mention on 12 June.
Meanwhile, Botswana Police Service public relations officer, Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube confirmed that they were investigating a case in which a 40-year-old man had killed his 34-year-old wife.
He said the couple had gone for counselling for some of their social issues at one of the GBV centres in Gaborone, and that the husband stabbed the wife with a sharp instrument at the centre.
Meanwhile, Gabalape Matsime, 32, of Woodhall in Lobatse, who has been charged for the murder of his police officer girlfriend, Onkemetse Motiki, also appeared for mention before Magistrate Moremi-Ramakoloi.
He will appear again for mention on June26. Ends
