Ministry of Health (MoH)  has re-called with immediate effect Woolworth’s branded smoked chicken viennas, cocktail chicken viennas and halaal smoked chicken viennas products. A press release from the ministry says the recall is due to the presence of milk proteins in the implicated products.

“This is a result of cross contamination with cheese during production, hence the implicated products do not have allergy warning labelling, in accordance with the Labelling of Pre-Packaged Foods Regulation, S.I. 15, 2003,” notes the release.

The release further stipulates that the products pose health risks to potential consumers who have an allergy to cow’s milk and may experience an adverse reaction after consuming them.

As a precautionary measure, says the release, the ministry urges consumers not to consume the affected products that have a sell by date of May 27.
It says that all other related products outside the sell by date indicated, are unaffected and not part of the recall. ENDS
