Margistrate court delays TajBhais bail ruling

Murder accused person, Mohammed Sadiq TajBhai has been further remanded in custody pending finalisation of investigations.

The 33-year-old appeared before Molepolole chief magistrate, Mr Gaseitsiwe Tonoki on Monday. 

TajBhai’s case will mention on May 12 for status hearing.  

Updating the court on the progress of the matter, prosecutor, Inspector Thema Marumola indicated that investigations were ongoing, adding that recording of statements from potential state witnesses, among others, was yet to be concluded.

 Insp. Marumola further revealed that the forensic report will be ready in two weeks.

Commenting on the status of the investigations, defence counsel, Mr Karabo Tebape argued that the investigations officer must appear before court to give a detailed update on the status of the investigations.  

Mr Tebape complained that the state appeared to be dragging its feet. 

He said the case had been before court for two months and the state was still not certain on when the investigations were likely to conclude.

The accused person is charged with the January 24 murder of a Molepolole taxi driver, Mr Ofitlhile Ofitlhile.  

He is also charged with two counts of robbery and malicious damage to property. ends
