The Minister of Finance, Ms Peggy Serame, has been nominated as a 2023 Amujae leader alongside other women of a similar track record in Africa.

A press release from the ministry says Minister Serame was nominated by The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Centre (EJS Centre) under the Amujae Initiative which is the flagship programme of the EJS Centre aimed at inspiring and preparing women to unapologetically take up roles and excel in the highest levels of public leadership as well as to empower other women to follow in their steps.

The release says the Amujae leader nomination features women from diverse backgrounds with a similar track record in terms of achievements in public life with a shared passion for the upliftment of women and girls in Africa and throughout the continent.

“Her continued goal is to make significant contributions to the development and transformation of Botswana’s economy, ultimately changing the lives of Batswana for the better,” reads the release.

It further says Ms Serame also contributes to her society through humanitarian work with focus on youth, young women as well as the girl child. Ends
