South Africans plead guilty for unlawful possession

Two South African nationals, William Maphoto and Mokgadi Matlou, have pleaded guilty to the charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunitions.
The duo, Mokgadi (30) and Matlou (42) pleaded guilty on Thursday before Chief magistrate, Mr Daniel Nkau of Gaborone Village Magistrate Court.
The two were arrested in January this year in Gaborone and Tlokweng, where they were found to be illegally in possession of firearms and ammunitions.
Their arrest followed a shoot-out between law enforcement officers and six armed suspects believed to be of foreign nationals at Block 8 in Gaborone.
According to the charge sheet , Mokgadi and Matlou acting together and in consent were found in possesion of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions ; a pistol and four ammunitions.
The duo will appear again on May 9 for presentation of facts. ends
