18 Apr 2023

Thirty-three-year-old Mohammed Sadiq TajBhaj who faces murder charges over the death of Molepolole taxi driver, has been remanded in custody after the prosecution pleaded with the court pending recording of statements from two key witnesses.

Principal Magistrate Solomon Setshedi ruled that the accused be remanded in custody and would appear in court again on May 2, following a plea from prosecutor, Inspector Thema Marumola, who said they had received a postmortem report, but were still waiting for exhibits from the forensic laboratory.

The defence counsel, Mr Karabo Tebape, argued that the investigations were going at a snail’s  pace, adding that it had been two months, but the prosecution had still not made any notable progress on the case.

TajBhai has been charged with murder, robbery and malicious damage to property, which he allegedly committed on the fateful night of January 24. ENDS
