Oral polio vaccination campaign extended to Saturday

Oral polio vaccination campaign that started on March 27 and was due to be completed Friday, will continue until Saturday.
The campaign is targeting children aged 7 years and below and those who took their first dose in the February 2023 campaign are being given the second dose while those who could not receive their dose are being given the first dose.
“The vaccination campaign will continue till Saturday for all areas in Botswana, except for Greater Gaborone (Gaborone area), Greater Francistown, Ngami, Tutume, Serowe/Palapye (Serowe area), Greater Lobatse (Lobatse area), Ghanzi (Charleshill area), Southern (Mabutsane area), Kgalagadi South, Kweneng (Kweneng West area) and Kgatleng DHMTs, which will end their campaign on Sunday,” states a press statement from the Ministry of Health, further explaining that the extension is meant to allow those who may have missed their oral polio vaccine by the end of today to do so over the weekend.
The release also says that the vaccination will continue to be carried out at clinics, schools and churches as the main facilities for the campaign.
