Kgosing ward Councilor, Mr Zaahid Jalal will lead the newly established Ramotswa District Council as chairperson of the authority.

Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Mr Tumiso Rakgare made the announcement Sunday during a celebration of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) 2019 election victory of Kgosing ward in Ramotswa.

He thanked Kgosing ward residents for delegating Mr Jalal with the responsibility of leading them.

Mr Rakgare, who is also the Member of Parliament for Mogoditshane said BDP South East Region decision to have Mr Jalal as their next chairperson was an indication that he was a man of great repute.

He said he had known Mr Jalal’s capabilities previously as their bond transcended the political spectrum.

Mr Rakgare thanked the community of Kgosing for also voting into office Mr Lefoko Moagi whom he described as a very knowledgeable man who executed his responsibilities quite well.

He said during cabinet and BDP caucus meetings, Mr Moagi was instrumental in his contributions and continued to display a great level of understanding of the governance mechanism.

He said President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi trusted Mr Moagi’s capabilities thus he gave him the minerals portfolio which was the biggest contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

He urged residents to understand their political leadership’s character as some were unscrupulous individuals.

For his part, Mr Moagi urged the democrats to unite for the survival of the party.

He said the political landscape was without hiccups but urged staunch BDP supporters to have their party at heart and rebuild the brand that was Domkrag.

For his part, Mr Jalal said as the political leadership they promised to deliver on their mandate. He said despite challenges owing to COVID-19 and other related matters their efforts were visible in the area. Ends
