Preventative health care ideal for fighting early death
14 Mar 2023
Preventative health care is one of the best approaches to curbing premature death caused by Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
This was said by Dr Ntlhe Seketeme of Metro Clinic during a wellness day event organised by Shakawe Police Station recently.
Encouraging early detection which included screening of diseases, he said many people, especially youth, died prematurely due to NCDs because they became aware that they had such ailments very late.
Dr Seketeme called for vigilance on mental illnesses advising that professional help be sought early.
Elixcare founder Mr Diane Elijah said health was a fundamental human right that required to be nurtured.
“If health is not taken seriously, life expectancy in the country is going to decline,” he said.
Mr Elijah encouraged the attendants to undergo health screening frequently as it saved lives through early detection of diseases. He said there was need for collaborations to raise awareness and conduct health screening for members of the public.
Mr Elijah said his company had partnered with other health providers such as Metro Clinic on community health screening slated for Sekondoboro on March 22.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Lekgowa Lekgowa of Shakawe said the wellness initiative was commendable as police officers had to be healthy for best service delivery.
The event attracted all police stations in the Okavango policing area and comprised screening for diseases as well as sporting activities. ends
