The Jeep Nation has donated over 200 pairs of school shoes and bag packs to Ledibela Primary School pupils.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Jeep Nation representative from South Africa, Mr Katlego Nhla said their club had about 240 representatives from Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho and other southern African countries.
Mr Nhla said they targeted all regions to assist the less privileged in a bid to unite different African nations.
However, he said their main target population was school children as they wanted to shape their minds and prepare them to appreciate life.
On other issues, he encouraged pupils not to get confined to their villages, but go out and experience life in other areas.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Merapelo Tshweneyagae praised the Jeep Nation for their benevolence.
He said their noble gesture would go a long way in promoting international relations.
“I applaud you for promoting the spirit of Ubuntu,” he said.
He also implored pupils to take their education seriously and to stop associating Kgalagadi with poor results.
Giving an overview of the school, Ms Kenanano Baumake said it opened its doors in 1992 and that they had been performing well throughout the years.
She praised teachers for the good results as well as the cordial working relations with other stakeholders.
She, however, complained about the shortage of educational materials such as photocopying machines and their accessories.
She pleaded with other stakeholders to lend a helping hand.
For her part, Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North, Ms Talita Monnakgotla also praised the Jeep Nation for their support across borders.
She said some communities in Kgalagadi were subjected to poverty, wwhich could negatively impact on pupils academic performance.
She also urged individuals and stakeholders to adopt schools as government could not bear the burden of educating pupils alone.
In her closing remarks, principal education officer, Ms Cordelia Mtila also lauded the donors and said their noble gesture would give pupils an opportunity to flourish and reach their full potential.
She also pleaded with donors to adopt schools in the Kgalagadi region as they were faced with poor academic performance due to lack of resources. ENDS
