Kwape represents Botswana at Non-Aligned Movement summit

Foreign affairs minister Dr Lemogang Kwape is in Baku, Azerbaijan to participate in today’s Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group summit on response to COVID-19.
A ministry press release explains that Dr Kwape is attending the summit, which is focusing on post-pandemic global recovery, on behalf of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.
“Among others, the summit will discuss post-pandemic global recovery issues and explore potential solutions to challenges exacerbated by the pandemic such as increased unemployment and weakened health care systems,” states the release.
It reveals that Dr Kwape will deliver a statement detailing Botswana’s post COVID-19 recovery efforts which include construction of a vaccine manufacturing plant.
The summit will be chaired by Azerbaijan president, Mr Ilham Aliyev, in his capacity as the current Non-Aligned Movement chair, says the release. Ends
