Following the January 17 refusal by the Broadhurst Magistrate Court to grant him bail murder accused, Gabalape Matsime has indicated that he was struggling to draft his appeal to the High Court.
He said that even though he had hinted in the previous court appearance that he was intending to appeal his bail refusal to the High Court, he was struggling to draft such an affidavit.
Asked by Magistrate Ms Segomotso Phetogo if he had anything to say to court after prosecution pleaded for extension of his remand warrant, he said he had nothing to say.
Magistrate asked Matsime to update court regarding his bail appeal.
“If you are having problems with your application, there are people around you who are legends when it comes to writing such applications, seek help from them and they will assist accordingly,” said Ms Phetogo.
The state prosecutor, Sergeant Mmoloki Selofera had earlier asked the court to extend Matsime’s remand warrant, saying the investigating team was awaiting post mortem results, witness affidavits and compilation of a photo album.
Matsime of Woodhall in Lobatse is charged with December 30, 2022 murder of Ms Onkemetse Motiki (36), a female police officer.
He is alleged to have stabbed the deceased with a sharp object at Tsholofelo location in Gaborone.
The accused will mention at Broadhurst Magistrate Court on March 13. ends
