President Masisi leaves for Ethiopia today to attend AU summit

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi is scheduled to leave for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today to attend this weekend’s 36th African Union heads of state and government ordinary session.
According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs media release, the summit themed, Acceleration of the AFCFTA Implementaion, will be held February 18-19.
It says the summit will also consider reports on the peace and security situation in Africa, global food crisis, the AU’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The release says in addition, the President will have bilateral engagements on the margins of the summit.
It explains that the summit will be preceded by the 42nd ordinary session of the ministerial executive council on February 15-16 with Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Lemogang Kwape representing Botswana.
Also in the President’s entourage will be First Lady Neo, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Mmusi Kgafela and other senior government officials. ends
