OP sets record straight

Office of the President (OP) says contrary to circulating social media reports, President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has never made a pronouncement that the late South African musician, Kiernan Forbes, was like a son to him.
In a statement, OP says Botswana recognises the artiste, popularly known as AKA, as a global icon who has collaborated with local musicians like Zeus, who once represented the country in the Big Brother show.
“To this end, we express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Forbes, the people of South Africa and his fans. AKA commanded a huge fan base in Botswana and his passing on is a great loss to the creative industry,” says the statement.
It reminds the public that AKA’s family needs to be given time to mourn the loss of their beloved son. ends
