Botswana will host the 2023 edition of the Forbes Under 30 Summit, Africa from April 23 to 26.

A media release from the Ministry of Entrepreneurship says the summit, which will be held under the theme: Entrepreneurial Africa-with Botswana at the Centre, is expected to harness the power of entrepreneurial capitalism in the continent, whose growth will help define the 21^st century.

The release notes that Forbes convenes and curates the most influential leaders and entrepreneurs who are driving change, transforming business, and making a significant impact in the world.

It says as remarked by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi in 2022, the Forbes Under 30 Africa summit has been instrumental in aiding the youth of the world to become torch bearers and change agents of development through entrepreneurship.

It further says this year’s summit, comes in the heels of the 2022 edition, which was held in Gaborone and Kasane, where Botswana had a total of 200 delegates from across various sectors such as manufacturing, creativity, technology, fashion design and horticulture, to name but a few.

The biggest economic beneficiaries, the release notes, were transport operators; specifically, taxis who ferried delegates over the days, hotel industry, performing arts as well as events promoters, who were greatly affected by the lockdowns and slowdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It says the summit will be led by the newly established Ministry of Entrepreneurship, which forms part of the two Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) being Sustainable Economic Development as well as Human and Social Development. ends
