Switzerland president Mr Alain Berset will beginning next week Monday  undertake a three-day state visit to Botswana at the invitation of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement says the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Botswana and Switzerland dating back to 1976 with the  establishment of diplomatic ties. 

The two heads of state will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of common interest, says the release.

Having cooperated in a number of fields including education, immigration, trade and investment,  they will also explore possible areas for further collaboration such as in the health, finance, manufacturing, minerals and cultural sectors.

The release notes that President Masisi undertook a working visit to Switzerland in May last year.

President Berset will be accompanied by Ms Muriel Zeender Berset, senior government officials and a delegation representing Swiss multinational companies. Ends
