Acting on a tip off, Palapye Police last week arrested three suspects in connection with a string of burglaries, house break-ins and theft committed over a period of about four months.
The suspects, all males residing in Palapye, are Kelebile Keoletile (39) of Sekoba ward in Bobonong, Keitiretse Boy (32) of Nswazwi and Llyod Phiri from Harare, Zimbabwe.
A fourth suspect is still at large and police have appealed to the public to help with information that will lead to his arrest.
According to Palapye Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Moses Serojane, the four were suspected to be responsible for 41 reported incidents of house break-ins and theft committed between September 2022 and this month.
He said household items such as television sets, radios, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, laptops, cellphones and clothes worth P678 632 were stolen.
Almost half of the goods had already been recovered, he disclosed.
Superintendent Serojane noted that the arrested suspects were all repeat offenders. They were due to appear before Palapye Magistrate Court yesterday.
In a different incident, Supt. Serojane said the police were currently looking for three men who swindled a Palapye businessman out of P91 000 by impersonating police officers.
He warned the public about the growing trend advising in such scenarios, people should demand a police ID accompanied by Omang (Botswana national identity card). Ends
