Court remands motor vehicle theft accused

Ghanzi Magistrate Court, on Wednesday, remanded in custody a 34-year-old man of Botshabelo ward in Charleshill who faces a motor vehicle theft charge. 

Senior Magistrate Mpho Molema ordered that the accused, Mompati Segokgo, be remanded in custody and appear again on January 17.

Segokgo, whose plea was reserved, was accused of stealing a black Toyota Wish of B 312 BFB registration, worth P 40 000 from one Mr David Molefi at Utjiseu ward in Charleshill on April 4,2022.

The prosecutor, Sub inspector Shathiso Ngebani of Botswana Police Service, made an application for the accused person to be remanded in custody.

He said the accused person should be denied bail as the investigating officer, Detective Constable Steven Motsewabeng detailed that investigations were still ongoing and the accused person had been on the run since committing the offense.

Detective Constable Motsewabeng alleged that the accused person was a wanted man for similar offences he committed around Gaborone.  ENDS
