Deployment of police officers at prominent sightseeing spots and intensifying patrols in crime prone areas in Moshupa reduced crime incidents during the New Year celebrations.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Moshupa station commander, Superintendent David Ramoseki said it was critical to intensify patrol in crime prone areas such as Mmaseetsele, Diboto and Sedudu wards.
He said ever since they intensified patrols following some incidents on December 27, no serious cases were recorded.
He said the patrol team comprised members of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF), Botswana Police Service, commercial officers, bye-law enforcement officers and members of the community in affected wards.
Supt Ramoseki implored the public to collaborate with the police to thwart acts of crime, noting criminals were working in syndicates.
Meanwhile, Supt Ramoseki said during Christmas days, three men robbed a family at Diboto ward in Moshupa. The suspects stole a television set and three cellphones valued at P4 200.
