Work is in progress to pay accordingly all the teaching staff who were eligible for multiple titling and grading of C-Band positions.
This was revealed by Kgatleng Education Regional Director Mr Mothusi James during the ongoing council meeting in Mochudi who further explained that such teachers were owed as at 2007 as per the Directorate of
Public Service Management (DPSM) Savingram on multiple titling and multiple grading of C-band positions.
The directive issued by DPSM in 2001 aimed at among others reducing the period of progression from one grade to another from three years to two years and to facilitate faster progression of serving officers who qualified.
Mr James briefed councillors that all those eligible for progression and their performance also warranting, would progress as per the savingram.
“We have notified all schools to inform even those that have retired in writing that they will be paid,” he said.
On other issues, council heard that the status of roads in the district was worsened by shortage of graders to undertake regular maintenance in the district.
Chief Technical Officer, Ms Mosetsana Tabengwa said other roads in the district were below the ground level hence they easily become water logged.
Meanwhile the Water Utilities Corporation General Manager - Mochudi, Mr Moses Dikgang briefed councillors that the corporation was aware of the stench coming from Boseja North ponds.
He, however, could not ascertain as to when the ponds would be rehabilitated or the possible relocation of the ponds.
He acknowledged that the ponds should have not been located in the vicinity of the village, adding that their proximity to a residential area was a reflection of bad planning.
The District Health Management Coordinator, Dr Boipelo Lecoge acknowledged shortage of drugs at health facilities, but noted that the ministry had made arrangements with private pharmacies for patients living with chronic illnesses to access drugs.
Acting chief Environmental Health Officer, Mr Thabo Lesejane apprised the council on the council’s waste management strategy that had been approved by council committees, although awaiting funds for implementation.
He also stated that the Pilane landfill would be fenced to control movement of people entering the landfill, owing to frequent fire outbreaks at the landfill.
Earlier on councillors had raised a number of concerns from their wards that include among others inaccessible roads, shortage of drugs in health facilities, shortage of water or water with bad odour and further complained about bad stench from the Boseja ponds that were in the proximity of some homesteads.
Councillors had also complained about high level of crime, and that more police officers were needed at Artesia as the village was surrounded by cattle posts, hence police visibility was crucial. ENDS
