A man rapes neighbour

A 47-year-old man of Boseja ward in Maun was arrested over the weekend for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl, of the same ward.
Maun police station commander, Superintendent Chenamo Orateng revealed in an interview that the suspect was arrested on October 01 in the evening, after the victim’s parents reported the matter.
He explained that the victim met her fate after the suspect, who is a neighbour, invited her to come and see something and upon arrival he followed her into the house where he raped her. Supt. Orateng said the suspect was in custody assisting the police with their investigations.
Still at Boseja ward, he said they had registered a murder incident of a 33-year-old man, who was certified dead upon arrival at Letsholathebe Memorial hospital, where was rushed after arriving at relatives’ homestead with blood all over the body, in the early hours of Saturday (October 01).
He said they suspected that the victim could have been stabbed with a sharp object, as he had several injuries on the right ribs. In a separate incident, Superintendent Orateng said a 30-year-old man of Maun was recuperating at Letsholathebe hospital from serious injuries sustained after he was hit by a car along TshekoTsheko road on Independence Day around 0730am.
Police are also investigating a road accident which happened at Haka settlement, along the Maun/Ghanzi road.
The police chief said a 37-year-old man lost control of a Toyota Surf, which then rolled off the road, injuring all the occupants; four passengers and the driver. Supt. Orateng said the passengers were treated at Letsholathebe hospital and discharged, while the driver was referred to Nyangabgwe hospital in Francistown. Ends/bopa/tmk/04.10.22ENDS
