Expansion of customer base has the potential to ensure sustainable growth for Lekono Butchery based in Khumaga.
Speaking during tour of businesses in Boteti West on Wednesday, Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry Ms Beauty Manake said commitment to increasing customer base could offer new opportunities such as increasing competition on price between current and potential new customers, leading to sustainable growth.
Ms Manake thus implored Lekono Butchery owner to expand market by catering for schools and various private and government institutions.
She also advised on seeking assistance from Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) to acquire bookkeeping and business skills.
Ms Manake also said it was crucial to establish a slab slaughter in Khumaga since the butchery was located far from abattoirs.
Lekono Butchery owner, Ms Wazha Keboaketswe had earlier on said they needed to be assisted with land to establish an abattoir in Khumaga since the one currently servicing them was far.
She said the butchery which opened doors in July 2022, slaughtered two heads of cattle per week depending on demand and supplied Dessert and Delta Safaris, Bushways lodges and individual customers in the village.
Ms Keboaketswe requested to be assisted with funding to secure a mobile fridge.
Lekono Butchery structure was self-financed and equipment was purchased through P150 000 funding from Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency.
LEA Chief Executive Officer Dr Racious Molefe promised to send a team that would capacitate the business owner and her team on business and bookkeeping. ENDS
