Tshere urges PSLE candidates to work hard

Saint Patricks Primary School learners, who are due to sit for their primary school leaving examinations (PSLE) have been encouraged to work hard.

Mahalapye West MP, Mr David Tshere said this when visiting Mahalapye schools on Friday. 

The purpose of the visit was to motivate and wish the standard seven pupils good luck in their examinations. 

He explained that his visit was meant to promote good performance, encourage school management and learners to prepare for final examinations, so as to perform well.

He expressed gratitude to Mahalapye primary schools management for the good work done in special education, which he said required patience. 

He said that there were no challenges reported regarding special education classes meant that teachers were committed, which he applauded them for.

He reminded them that performance appreciation initiative was still active, where outstanding pupils and schools will be awarded accordingly. 

The legislator said best lwarner would get P1 000 and a certificate, a Laptop and certificate for best teacher, whilst best school would  get a trophy, all  from the MP’s office.

Mr Tshere noted that the school had been performing well for some time now and they wanted to maintain its dignity and position. He said the set target of 90 per cent was achievable therefore pupils and teachers needed to work extra hard to bring the best results. 

He advised the school management team to help those who lagging behind, so that they did not negatively impact the school performance.

He expressed concern about delayed supply of stationery and food to schools and promised to work towards resolving the situation with relevant authorities. 

He stated that the feeding programme was meant to curb malnutrition among learners. 

Addressing standard seven learners, he said it is was embarrassing to have poor school performance therefore he encouraged all to work hard and compete to get the overall best prize.

He advised them to heed their parents advice during this sensitive time of exams that comes once in a life time. He urged them to make the village leadership and school management proud.

Mahalapye Sub-district chief education officer, Ms Cecelia Sunday appreciated school management teams for good performance despite challenges they were faced 

She commended standard seven teachers for introducing independent learning initiative to help pupils to do well. She said Mahalapye schools had a culture of good performance because they had good strategies in place.

Deputy school head for Saint Patricks Primary School, Ms Patricia Seamogano expressed concern about the dilapidated school buildings. 

She said the condition affected their work as the environment was not safe for children. 

She pleaded for the maintenance of the buildings to ensure a safe environment for all.

 The main challenge in the school, she said, was theft because the fence was worn out which made it difficult to work extra time for remedial lessons because they felt not safe. ENDS
