Botswana Life applauds alumni

A Botswana Life senior official has applauded former pupils of Motalaote Lekhutile Primary School in Serowe for their hard work, resilience and determination.
Mr Donald Koogotsitse praised the pupils who completed their Standard 7 in 2019, 2020 and 2021, saying their good performance would motivate current pupils to continue the legacy and to make their parents, teachers and community proud.
Mr Koogotsitse was speaking at a victory party for the school.
He noted that In 2019 the school attained an overall pass rate of 96.7 per cent in the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) and that in 2020 it attained 95.3 per cent and 90.9 per cent.
Mr Koogotsitse also commended the school head, parents, teachers and community members for their support and all that they had done in ensuring that pupils received the best education.
“Your guidance and support in our children’s lives is truly instrumental and we commend you for it,” he said.
He also commended government for ensuring quality education for all, adding that a lot had been done and that government could not have achieved the feat alone.
He said Botswana Life had made a deliberate effort to assist government where it could, adding that for the past 46 years they had been a trusted partners to Batswana.
He noted that last year when celebrating their 45th heritage milestone, they donated money boxes to pupils as well as laptops with data and modems to four primary schools in three districts.
He named them as Flowertown, Teemane and Kazungula primary schools.
Mr Koogotsitse said as a leading life insurance company, their mandate was to drive education.
“This is why we not only recognise the need to come to Motalaote Lekhutile Primary School, but we have been on a trailblazing path of starting financial and insurance education from the grassroots and supporting government,” he said.
He added that they understood their duty and responsibility to support communities, parents and the future generation.
The school head, Ms Marriam Mpelega said they wanted to honour pupils who finished Standard Seven at her school in 2019, 2020 and 2021 because they made them proud. She also said they wanted to thank the teachers who served the community diligently.
She said it had not been easy for all of them because of the COVID- 19 pandemic and that contact between teachers with pupils was cpmpromised. She also the lockdown period, however, saying despite all the challenges they had to find a way to communicate with pupils such as opening WhatsApp groups.
She also thanked parents for working with teachers to ensure that the school produced good results. ENDS
