Officers can help transform lives - MP

07 Sep 2022

Public officers have been urged to take decisions aimed at supporting and transforming lives.

Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe, said this when addressing heads of departments in Letlhakane on Monday.

He said social welfare officers should develop interest in ensuring that businesses in rural areas were supported.

Government, he said, had taken a deliberate decision to localise procurement in rural areas.

Mr Lelatisitswe, who is also the Assistant Minister of Health, said youth in rural areas should not be made to compete with those in urban areas.

He implored officers to shift the way of thinking in provision of services, urging them to reduce the burden of poverty taking place in Boteti.

He dismissed delay in payment of suppliers, urging public officers to work in unison to help Batswana.

Mr Lelatisitswe urged public officers to go an extra mile in helping Batswana, citing that they were obligated to offer good service to the nation.

He encouraged officers to be open to information sharing of their departments, saying the aim was to enhance service provision.

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, he said was traveling around the world looking for opportunities to grow the economy. ENDS
