Kwape urges artistes to commercialise talent

Talented individuals have been urged to commercialise their crafts so as to improve livelihoods.
Kanye South MP, Dr Lemogang Kwape, said this during a master class chat of artistes in Kanye on Monday.
He said while artistes were entitled to benefit from their talents, the rewards could also benefit the less privileged.
He said artistes were not only entertainers, but educators as they used their talents to pass messages.
The area MP challenged the youth to think uniquely for their businesses to remain relevant as well as improve the overall performance of their entreprises.
“We have not all been created with the same abilities, but we have been given the same opportunity to do good. There are different ways through which to use one’s talent. One can bless others or can indulge in selfishness, seeking praise and admiration,” he noted
He said there was need to identify talent gaps and develop such.
For her part, director and producer of Top Power Pictures, Ms Lebogang Mpofu, said they would be having a master class meeting in Gaborone on September 24.
This would bring together artistes, the corporate world, directors, actors and producers under one roof to share notes.
She said they will have participants from South Africa to give local creators some tips.
The director said the master class chat in Kanye acted as a foundation for the upcoming meet in Gaborone.
Ms Mpofu encouraged creators not to be deterred by the industry’s glitches, adding that Top Power Pictures started from humble beginnings. ENDS
