MP promises to reward high performer

The best performing civil servant in Mmathethe/Molapowabojang constituency will drive away with a vehicle courtesy of area MP, Dr Edwin Dikoloti.
Speaking during a kgotla meeting in Mmathethe on Thursday, Dr Dikoloti said the vehicle was meant to motivate public servants to work hard in delivering services. “The idea is to motivate them to assist you beyond expectation and I have already bought the Honda fit,” he said.
Dr Dikoloti also informed residents about laws passed by Parliament such as the reduction of VAT on some products like gas and cooking oil. He said tax was used to carry out developments but that government saw it fit to reduce the tax because of the escalating cost of living.
The MP also decried poor school results, especially at Mmathethe Secondary School. He said he had decided to employ tutors for pupils in his constituency in order to improve results. “A certain amount from our constituency fund will be used to pay the tutors,” he said.
On the bad state of roads, the MP said they would use constituency funds to develop internal roads.
Regarding low water supply in the area, he said Minister Kefentse Mzwinila had promised to assist if funds permitted. He added that it had been determined that most water pipes were old and that water was lost that way.
For his part, former MP, Mr Peter Siele thanked government for increasing constituencies, saying some were vast such as Mmathethe Molapowabojang. He said dividing constituencies would improve service delivery and that the MP would be able to cover the whole area.
He advised residents to discuss the issue before the delimitation commission visited them and to select people who would speak on their behalf. “We need to prepare ourselves before they visit,” he said. Ends
