Investigator in Tlotso murder case asks for time

01 Sep 2022

Investigating officer detective inspector Tiroyaone Bogosibotsile has asked for one more month to conclude investigations in the alleged murder of seven-year-old boy Tlotso Karema.

Mr Bogosibotsile made the request before Lobatse regional magistrate Mr Kaveri Kapeko yesterday morning during the status hearing of the case.

The 36-year-old Zimbabwe national Lovemore Sithole is accused of killing Tlotso, who went missing in March 2022 in Lobatse.

Giving an update on the case, Mr Bogosibotsile said he was still awaiting an affidavit for the accused’s call data.

He also said he still needed to finalise his written statement.

“I pray to court to give me a month to complete all the investigations. I have not yet written my statement and I am still waiting for other documents so that I can submit my statement. I am waiting for the affidavit from Mascom Wireless,” he said.

Mr Bogosibotsile further said the crime scene officer was still in the process of compiling the crime scene album.

He told the court that everything would be tied up and forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for assessment in a month’s time.

When asked by the court if he had any questions, the accused Sithole pointed out that he had nothing to say. Magistrate Kapeko, therefore, set October 4 as the new date of the case.

He also said Sithole would remain  in custody until his next court appearance. Ends
