Government delivers

Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Douglas Letsholathebe on Tuesday launched the school digitilisation initiative by handing over 1701 laptops to Shashe River Secondary School in Tonota.

The Minister said laptop distribution to public schools was part of government’s Reset Agenda of accelerating digitalisation.
 
He further said the equipment was aimed at facilitating the use of technology in teaching and learning.
 
He noted that schools would be equipped in phases and that phase one included 34 senior secondary schools, 11 of which had already received their devices.

For his part, Minister of Education and Skills Development acting deputy permanent secretary, Ms Louis Ngope cautioned that the devices were government property, therefore learners would be expected to hand them back upon completion of studies. Ends

 

Dr Letsholathebe said this was in line with of government’s Reset Agenda priority of facilitating the use of technology in teaching and learning.

He said to date 11 out of 34 senior secondary schools had received laptops and the remaining suppliers have committed to delivering to other schools by mid September.
