Police appeal to couples to seek help avoid violence

29 Aug 2022

Jwaneng police have pleaded with couples to always involve relevant authorities such as social workers, magosi and others to help them solve their differences amicably rather than resorting to violence.

The plea was made byJwaneng police acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent Tlhabologo Bojosi after an incident of murder over the weekend.

Assistant Superintendent Bojosi said that the incident occurred at Sese on Saturday afternoon.

“We received a report at around 3pm that day and rushed to Sese where we found a 29-year-old woman of Kgosing Ward stabbed two times with what appeared to be a knife. We rushed her to Jwaneng Mine Hospital where she was unfortunately certified dead,” he said.

Assistant Superintendent Bojosi said that the woman was stabbed under the left breast and on the back.

He also said that they were holding in custody, the deceased’s 36-year-old boyfriend who was arrested in connection with the matter the same day.

Assistant Superintendent Bojosi said the suspect would appear before Jwaneng magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

“Even though we are still new into the investigations, the gist of the matter seems to have been the usual domestic conflict between lovers, and that is why we appeal to couples to always seek counsel from those that can assist,” he said, adding that though he did not have statistics at hand, cases of Gender Based Violence were of concern in Sese.
