Police in Letlhakane are investigating a suspected child trafficking incident which happened in Khwee village. The particulars of the case are that the mother of a girl child aged between four and five years allegedly gave her child to an unknown woman.

According to Assistant Superintendent Tsholofelo Masole, the suspect who had visited Khwee had developed interest in the child and requested her from the mother, who supposedly acceded to the request.

Asst. Supt Masole stated that the matter came to light when the child’s uncle questioned the mother about the whereabouts of the little girl and subsequently reported to the police. The mother had allegedly exchanged contacts with the person who took the child, but misplaced them.

Asst. Supt Masole stated that the police have managed to find a lead on the child’s whereabouts but could not disclose information to this publication. ends
