Botswana Investment and Trade Centre has scooped 2^nd position at the second edition of the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards. 

Executive Director - Export Development and Promotion at BITC, Ms Trunkalinah Gabonthone said in an interview that the awards programme recognised outstanding performance and noteworthy efforts of trade service providers in supporting companies.

Ms Gabonthone confirmed that nine countries, Angola, Botswana, eSwatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia South Africa and Zambia participated at the awards.

She said the adjudication was done by a panel of internationally experienced judges in the export field and audited by a professional auditing firm.

She revealed that the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards was a collaboration between the Eastern Cape Development Corporation and the US Government, through the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub (USAID TradeHub).

The USAID TradeHub engaged with all nine participating countries to increase sustainable growth, export competitiveness, and trade between these countries and with the United States, she added. 

The ceremony was held on July 26, 2022, at Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa under the theme: “Celebrating the Export Excellence of Southern African Brands”. Ends
