Speaking during the relaunch in Maun on Friday, BOPEU president, Ms Masego Mogwera urged BOPEU members to take advantage of the products to improve their quality of life.
She said taking up insurance was unavoidable saying some members have lost loved ones while many households were left destitute due to COVID-19 pandemic. She said due to economic hardships, the rate of crime has skyrocketed and “all these factors have made insurance a basic need hence the need to insurance packages as offerred by BOPEU to protect our assets and livelihoods,” she added.
President Mogwera further said since the inception of the scheme, there had been low uptake of products by members notwithstanding the importance of the scheme and believed that through the relaunch and public education and awareness, the uptake would improve.
Members, she said could not live a meaningful life without insurance cover and encouraged them to secure their future by taking up progressive insurance scheme and policies promoted by the union.

critical as members could easily replace their lost property which they had worked years for. She assured BOPEU that they would continue offering excellent service to meet their
needs and encouraged them to fully utilise such services to better their lives. Ms Moswela also appreciated the re-launch noting that union members would have a full understanding of advantages of insurance and implement solutions for themselves and their property. Babereki Insurance Brokers board chairperson Mr Oteng Otukile said the union saw it fit to partner with Old Mutual so that members could enjoy affordable products and have a peace of mind as their future would be protected.
Mr Otukile expressed hope that while they had a two-year drawback due to COVID-19 members would soon come forth. “We don’t want our members to be left during tough times
