15 Jul 2022

Mogoditshane police are on a manhunt for the murderer of a 48-year-old Kopong teacher, whose body was found lying in a pool of blood at the village’s Mogampane ward early Friday morning.

Mogoditshane police station commander, Supt Russ Letsebe confirmed in an interview that his office received a report of a gruesome murder incident this morning around 4am and police immediately rushed to the scene.

Supt Letsebe said the horrific incident took place at the deceased’s home.

"The woman was sleeping in the same room with a child - there were other people in the homestead in other houses - when the child eventually got opportunity to raise the alarm, other family members came and upon seeing the incident, reported to the police," he said.

Supt Letsebe said they were trying to find counselling for the six-year-old child.

He said when police arrived at the scene they found the body of the woman lying on the bed in a pool of blood with a sharp cut under her breast suggesting that a sharp object might have been used to stab her.

He said next to the body was something that resembled a heart and they also found something that looked like lungs in a bowl in the kitchen sink.

He further said police took the organs and the body to Nkoyaphiri Clinic, where the woman was certified dead.

However, Supt Letsebe said investigations, which include the post-mortem, would reveal if the organs belonged to the deceased or not.

The suspect allegedly broke the window, through which he entered into the house to slay her. Police also confirmed that nothing was stolen from the house. Investigations continue. Ends
