Five unidentified men have robbed Total Filling Station First National Bank ATM in Molepolole and made away with undisclosed amount of cash in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Molepolole station commander, Superintendent Benedict Matlho confirmed, in an interview, that the incident happened between 1 and 2am.
It is alleged that upon arrival the suspects, who had covered their faces, fired a warning shot and the two security guards on duty fled to the 24-hour kiosk.
It is alleged that two of the robbers followed the guards into the store and dragged them, together with other employees to the males toilets and locked them inside.
The thieves then went outside and fired another warning shot and together with the three, who remained outside the store blew the ATM with something that was suspected to have been a powerful detonator and went away with the money.
Superintendent Matlho said the police were in contact with FNB to determine the amount of money that could have been stolen.
He further said that when the security vehicle arrived the robbers hailed bullets at it and fled before the arrival of the police. At the time of going to press the five suspects were still at large. The police investigations continue. End
