Mod steals show

What was supposed to have been be a female comics’ show turned out to be a one man’s show and the man was none other than Mod, one of Botswana’s pioneers of standup comedy.
He was the MC at the Laff-A-Lot Gaborone comedy show for females but he turned out to be the audience’s favorite of the night.
The show was part of the third Laff-A-Lot annual comedy tour which started in Tsabong about two week ago to end with a grand finale in Maun on November 23.
The Gaborone show was also a platform for Laff-A-Lot crew to try new clowns who have been in comedy workshops conducted by Comedy for the Nation of Botswana (COFONABO) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture.
Nonetheless, local standup comedy pioneer, Mod, stole the Friday show with his fresh and creatively crafted jokes that rescued the less entertaining show.
Every time he came on stage to introduce the next act, he made sure that he left the audience with something to laugh about, and he was outstanding.
If it was not for Mod, the show would have been tedious, but with his experience and creative mind he managed to rescue the situation.
The new comics, most of whom were first timers at a Laff-A-Lot show, delivered substandard material which saw the audience barely laughing.
On the other hand, Laff-A-Lot crew surprised its fans by bringing Botswana Football Association CEO, Keith Masters also to perform at the comedy show, who many struggled to get most of his jokes because of the accent. Ends
