Botswana moves up two places in competitiveness stakes
15 Jun 2022
Botswana has been ranked 58 out of 63 countries in this year’s World Competitiveness Yearbook.
The score, released by the Institute for Management Development (IMD), shows the performance of middle and high-income economies that it assessed up to April 2022.
A press release from the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs says the results highlight the emergence of geopolitical risks, the development of more regional-centric challenges and potential re-evaluation of the concept of globalisation.
The assessment is conducted by examining four factors considered critical in promoting a nation’s overall competitiveness, namely: economic performance, government and business efficiencies as well as infrastructure. The release says Botswana scored 61 out of 64 economies in 2021. There has also been an improvement in Botswana’s overall competitiveness index with the score increasing from 38.8 out of 100 last year to 45.26 in 2022.
Improvements have been achieved in the rankings of all the four factors. BOPA
