MP urges BNF to implored maintain legacy

Botswana National Front (BNF) members have been implored to maintain an unwavering commitment to the idea of protecting and upholding the party’s legacy despite the currently faced hostilities.
Speaking during the Kgalagadi North constituency elective congress recently, Central committee member, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile said in the past the party had gone through many cyclical instabilities, which they it overcame.
He, therefore, encouraged members to remain united and firmly focused on nurturing the growth of the party.
Mr Ntlhaile said the party had a long history of struggle for justice and human rights and through its commitment they would be able to discharge its historical mission diligently.
He said party structures such as ward representatives and the central committee were bestowed with immense responsibilities to strengthen themselves and others.
He underscored the importance of the elective congress, which he said was a yardstick to analyse their performance in the 2019 general elections and other party activities.
He said through the convergence of elective congress, they would be able to identify strengthens and weakness and also devise possible strategies to eliminate the identified shortfalls.
He further implored them to abide by the party constitution so as to avoid flouting internal processes and also to guard against external influences, but rather ensure transparency and fairness in all their deeds.
On other issues, Mr Ntlhaile encouraged members to intensify recruitment drives so as to increase their membership, which was needed to aid the regime change process.
Kgalagadi North constituency chairperson, Mr Olsen Mantle reminded members of the need to promote inner party democracy so to create a movement the masses would associate with.
He said the party had clear rules that must be adhered to so to maintain inner peace and stability.
He said BNF performed badly in the 2019 general elections, which then called on vigilance of members at all times to ensure that electoral laws were respected.
He, cautioned members to be vigilant of such tendencies as voter trafficking in the coming elections so as to maintain transparency and fairness in the running of elections.
In her welcome remarks, Kgosi Mohaladi said political parties should align their constitution with the Constitution of Botswana so as to uphold peace and tranquility in the country.
She implored political parties to be committed and faithful in their endeavours, looking at their responsibilities of advocating for constituents’ welfare. Ends
