Tsogwane gifts ram to woman

29 May 2022

Lady luck struck one Middlepits woman recently at the Lobu small stock auction when she walked away with a Dorper ram courtesy of acting President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane.

After the auctioneer, Mr Kabo Kemoreile had screamed from the top of his voice “lot 111…. lot 111….. going for reserve price of P2 000,” and there was deafening silence, Mr Tsogwane rose from the top table and offered to buy the ram at the reserve price.

Creatively altering the auction programme, Mr Tsogwane took off his hat, stormed into the auction kraal and asked his private secretary to write one ‘YES’ and many ‘NOs.’

He scrambled the folded papers in his hat to a thunderous applause, and all female farmers attending the event were asked to line up to pick their luck from the hat.

Ms Kedisaletse Saku emerged victorious after picking the wanted paper from Mr Tsogwane’s fortune hat.

In an interview after the draw, Ms Saku expressed delight at her unexpected fortune.

She said she did not register for the auction as she did not have money, and that she only came to benchmark and get the feel of an auction sale.

She revealed that she had 15 sheep and a ram, but was not satisfied with its performance or traits.

“I came to the auction without a single Thebe. All I wanted was to support the auction and benchmark so that I can prepare to buy in the next auction, but God answered my prayers and opened his floodgates,” she said.

The Lobu small stock auction was held from May 24-25. Ends
