Mochudi police are looking for five suspects who bombed the First National Bank ATM at Notwane Mall and fled with undisclosed amounts of cash in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Speaking in an interview, the station commander Superintendent Smash Mokoba said the incident happened between 2 and 215am, adding that five male suspects were involved.
He said the station received a report from the people who reside near the mall.
“One held the security guard at the back of the building with a weapon suspected to be a gun while the other four bombed the machines and fled with huge amounts of cash,” he said.
At the time of going to press, the stolen amount had not yet been confirmed as the police were yet to receive a report from the bank.
Superintendent Mokoba said no one was injured during the incident and the security guard was taken for medical checkup and was released the same day.
He said the bombing caused a great damage to the machines and the windows of nearby shops were also broken.
The station commander appealed to members of the public to assist with any information they may deem helpful and report to their nearest police station. Investigations continue. ENDS
