Man Pleads Not Guilty to Causing Death

A 47-year-old man on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to a single count of causing death by driving a motor vehicle while unfit to drive.
Joseph Motekwane is accused of causing the death of Michael Montsho while driving a Mercedes Benz registered B 937 BPD near Sejelo police station traffic lights in Kanye on March 3.
It is reported that at the time of the offence, the accused person was under the influence of alcohol.
The prosecutor, Sub-Inspector David Kaisara told senior magistrate Mr Onneile Ntwayapelo that investigations into the matter were complete and the accused person had been served with all the relevant documents, including witness statements.
The case is set for mention on July 29.
In a different matter before the same court, a 36-year old man of Jwaneng pleaded guilty to causing the death of two people by dangerous driving.
The particulars of the offence indicate that Kabelo Moduke, while driving a BMW registered B 537 BJL in a manner dangerous to other persons, caused the death of Tshipana Ketshotseng and Otsile Ntwayagae near Moshana turn-off on November 22, 2021.
The magistrate advised the prosecution to find out if the charge sheet could be amended to separate the counts since the incident resulted in the death of two people.
The case is scheduled for mention on July 21. ENDS
