05 May 2022

Bank Gaborone has launched a mobile banking App called Card-2-Card as part of the digital banking strategy to give customers more access to banking services at their convenience.

Card-2-Card allows customers to instantly transfer money to a trusted partner with a Botswana registered debit and/or credit card.  Speaking at the launch in Gaborone on Wednesday, Bank Gaborone managing director Mr Sybrand Coetzee said the newly enhanced mobile banking App was primarily designed to give better value and experience to customers.

“The banks’ drive to promote solutions to its customers allows us to partner with them to co-create services which empower them to have greater control of their finances,” he said.

In addition, the managing director reiterated that for customers’ peace of mind, security features had been enhanced to include biometric authentication, login notification, and the use of card PIN to confirm each transaction.

“There are also smart features which enable customers to manage card and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) limits as well as disable lost or stolen cards. Customers can also locate their nearest branch on the Apps Google Map locator,” he said.

Furthermore, Mr Coetzee indicated customers could now include a reference when purchasing airtime or electricity, schedule payments to multiple beneficiaries, and much more.

Moreover, he stated that the bank had also enabled the mobile banking App in more stores adding that customers using Android-powered devices such as Samsung can access the Bank Gaborone Mobile App on the Google Play store, Huawei users can access App Gallery for Huawei powered devices and those using Apple devices can access it on the IOS Appstore.

“Upon downloading the App, Bank Gaborone Customers can self-register. Customers registered on the App can use the same login credentials for e-Pula personnel online,” he said.

On protecting customers, Mr Coetzee said the intention was not only to provide an affordable option but to offer our customers a high-tech solution which safeguards them against fraud.

He strongly discouraged customers from sharing the three-digits on the back of their cards known as a Card Verification Number (CVV) with anyone.

The Card-2-Card payment solution applies to all fully Know Your Customer registered clients belonging to Bank Gaborone. Ends
