Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Ms Peggy Serame and Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security Mr Lefoko Moagi are in Washington for the 2022 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) spring meetings.

A press statement from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development says both ministers will be part of the discussions on the global economic situation, global financial markets and others issues of international importance.

It further says the IMF and WBG Board of Governors meet twice yearly to review the progress of the work of both institutions and to discuss key issues of enhancing economic growth and development in developing nations.

“Ms Serame will attend the Africa Group I Constituency meeting where issues of common interest to African countries will be discussed while Mr Moagi will meet the WBG officials to discuss potential support for Botswana’s energy sector particularly solar energy,” it says.

The delegation will also participate in bilateral meetings with international development partners and they are expected back home on  April 29.
