Trio in Autlwetse property damage case out on bail

Three men accused of causing malicious damage to property belonging to the Autlwetse family were on Wednesday granted conditional bail.
The trio, who appeared before Serowe magistrate Johny Baakile were granted bail on condition that they report to Serowe police station fortnightly on Wednesdays and should sign for P1 000 each. The accused are to also hand over their travelling documents to the station commander and should not commit any similar offence while on bail or interfere with police investigations.
The accused all from Serowe and unemployed are 23-year-old Thabang Segotso of Chichana ward, Moreri Tshiniki aged 23 of Mathuba ward and 38-year-old Modisagape Marobela of Chichana ward. They are charged with two counts of malicious damage to property.
Particulars of the offence are that the three on April 1 at Palamaokue ward in Serowe jointly acting together in consent and unlawfully set fire to a vehicle of registration B722BEV, Toyota Hilux valued at P232 000 being property of Ms Gabalape Autlwetse, wife of the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse.
On Count two, the three accused persons set fire to Ms Autlwetse’s house whose cost of the damage is not yet known.They will appear again on May 31. Ends
