Man arrested for threat to kill

 A 29-year-old man of Japane ploughing fields, near Natale, is in police custody for allegedly threatening to kill a 70-year-old man.

According to Tatitown Police Station Commander Supt. Boipuso Baatweng, the suspect was arrested for threatening to kill the complainant should he go outside his home.Supt Baatweng said the incident happened after allegedly the complainant keeping the suspect’s donkeys for the damaging his crops.

Meanwhile, he said they were investigating a house break-in and theft case in Marapong. He said two television sets, amounting to P5 000 each, were stolen and the suspect was still at large.

He advised the community to always leave someone on guard when they go on holiday, while requesting members of the public to report any suspicious person/s found selling such property to the nearest police station.

Supt Baatweng also reported that three drivers were arrested for drunken driving, 19 for speeding, 28 for failure to stop at traffic lights, 46 for driving motor vehicles that were not roadworthy, adding that they recorded two minor accidents with no injuries.

He said there were no reported rape cases, while bars observed business regulated times.“We had teams deployed in crime prone villages of Chadibe and Borolong to curb crime,” he said, thanking dikgosi and the community for playing a major role in deterring crime in his policing area.

For his part, Kutlwano Police Station Commander, Supt Neo Serumola said they had arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl. The young girl reportedly slept out and on being interrogated, she told her parents that she had slept at her boyfriend’s house.

In other incidents, he said there were five burglary cases, three drunken driving, one of a stolen cellphone and a few assault cases, while bars complied with regulated business times.

In Tonota, Supt Oteng Ngada said lack of respect for traffic signs and regulations, especially along the A1 Highway.

He said they registered 44 speeding cases, 80 different traffic offences and nine for driving without a licence.

Supt Ngada said they also recorded one grievous bodily case, where a 52-year-old woman lost a finger during a misunderstanding, which led to a physical confrontation with her 53-year-old lover.

He said when the woman overpowered him, he bit and cut her finger. Supt Amos Kekgathetse of Tshesebe Police Station reported that they registered a burglary and theft of goods amounting to P11 000. The goods, he said included a refrigerator, a television set and other household goods.

“The owner of the house was not around and had asked a neighbour to keep an eye, while she was away,” he said. Supt Kekgathetse said the neighbour reported noticing the following morning, while going to work that there was a break-in.  Investigations into the burglary were still ongoing.ENDS
