Court to receive murder case update May
03 Apr 2022
Broadhurst Magistrate Court will, on May 9, hear an update on investigations regarding the murder incident that took place at Staywell Hotel in Mogoditshane on March 5.
The prosecutor, Inspector Tsogo Rantopa, told the court recently that investigations were ongoing and they were awaiting finalisation of a forensic report.
Inspector Rantopa said the pending pathological report was the only piece of evidence that had stalled finalisation of the investigations.
He thus pleaded with the court to mention the matter after a month with the hope that by then, the pathological report would be finalised.
The quartet of Phenyo Kasale (28), Koketso Dipeba (35), Kealeboga Molefi (34) and Oteng Sephai (30) who are facing a single count of murder, appeared before Magistrate Jobbie Moilatshimo at Broadhurst Magistrate Court on April 1.
Meanwhile, in another case, the court has released on conditional bail, Patrick Kgotleng (26) of Block 7 in Gaborone charged with a single count of obtaining by false pretence.
Particulars of the offence were that on March 28 in Mogoditshane, the accused person fraudulently obtained the sum of P20 000 from Obonetse Tshiamo, claiming that he had powers to increase the said amount.
Updating the court on the matter, Inspector Rantopa said investigations were ongoing and the investigating team was still tracing transactions of the money in question.
However, he proposed that the accused be released on conditional bail.
Kgotleng was ordered to bind himself with P2 500, provide two citizen sureties binding themselves with P2 000 each, report to Mogoditshane police station every Friday during working hours and avail himself to court whenever requested to do so.
The case will go for status hearing on April 12. ENDS
