24 Mar 2022
Botswana Exporters Manufacturers Association (BEMA) and Botswana Trade Commission (BOTC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The scope of the MoU includes, but is not limited to, having the parties endeavour to inform each other of material events that may have a significant impact on their joint operations or activities; capacitate employees of both parties and participate in stakeholder engagements initiated by either party.
BEMA Chief Executive Officer, Ms Mantlha Sankoloba said there was a lot of work that the trade landscape demanded of the two entities, from manufacturing and exporting perspective in accordance with international best practice, citing that in developing nations public and private entities worked in synergies.
Ms Sankoloba said the MoU would foster a great working relationship between BEMA and BOTC in addressing cross-border trade-related issues, as well as other matters within MoU, such as the development, growth, and protection of infant industries such as the one BEMA represents.
For her part, care-taker Chief Executive Officer for BOTC, Ms Shirley Moncho said the strategic partnership would enable the parties to seek clarification from each other on any media reports that might be related to matters connected with or incidental to the MoU.
She said that it would enable them to agree on the desired course of action when issuing joint press releases on all matters of interest and consulting each other regularly. ENDS
