Poverty eradication beneficiaries must exhibit entrepreneurial attitude and disposition to create resilient and profitable businesses.

Local Enterprise Authority -Ghanzi branch manager, Mr Molefhi Basutli said this  during the at Ghanzi East poverty eradication beneficiaries’ market day, recently.

He encouraged poverty eradication beneficiaries to change mindset and see the future in their projects.

He said SMEs were backbone of global economy and account for about 90 per cent of businesses and over 60 per cent of employment in most economies.

Mr Basutli said seeing challenges as opportunities hidden in adversity might be more motivating to achieve further growth.

In contrast, he said entrepreneurs who view challenges as threatening and demoralising ccould be ill-prepared to mobilize resources to confront challenges.

He said often times SMEs’ lack of focus, inadequate market research, lack of business strategy, inability to separate business and family or personal finances, and inability to distinguish between revenue and profit, were major factors affecting business efficiency.

He challenged beneficiaries to embrace government reset agenda priorities, citing digitization and mindset change in order to live the theme, “Hatching out of the COVID-19 shell and creating resilient, profitable enterprises now and everlastingly.’’

Further, Mr Basitli emphasised that enhancing firm resilience was closely linked to digital connectivity to take advantage of continuing boom in e-commerce.

Regarding  the theme of the day, “hatching out of the COVID-19 shell and creating resilient, profitable enterprises now and everlastingly”, Mr Basutli said the theme spoke of transformation and a coming out of obscurity into some type of maturity.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, acting Ghanzi court president, Ms Annah Rankho  challenged poverty eradication beneficiaries to make hay out of  every opportunity and have meaningful contribution to the economy urging that social inclusion and equality defined in vision 2036 was central  to ending  poverty.

Meanwhile poverty eradication beneficiaries said lack of transport and operational space as major challenges.
